Power of meaning to dissolve disengagement, how just five minutes of focus can boost mental health for the day and how to make a start meditating

2 minute read

Friday Thoughts & Learnings

Friday Thoughts and Learnings (FTL) is a short post sharing what I'm reading, listening to and have been learning about this week.

I've been doing a lot of work with teams the week. And learning from friends who have gone deep into meditation practice and have found it has changed their lives in profound ways. Enjoy.

Power of meaning to dissolve disengagement

The Song of Significance: A New Manifesto for Teams by Seth Godin.

This book has really moved me. It's all about the epidemic of corporate work that breeds disengagement and its antidote - doing work that matters. It's easier to find than you might think - just focus on what you can do to make things better or creating change. Even if you have to look outside your team to do it, it will make your time at work more meaningful.

How just five minutes of focus can boost mental health for the day

Kwik Brain Podcast by Jim Kwik ep. 339.

Jim's podcasts are informative, inspiring and easy to digest. He's a memory and speed reading expert and interviews some amazing guests on his show.

In this one he interviews Dr. Chatterjee, a UK doctor and TV presenter, on how to make a significant impact in your mental, physical, and brain health in just five minutes a day.

How to make a start meditating

Meditation is not just for gurus...it strengthens memory, learning, attention and self-awareness.

Friends of mine have shared how after only six weeks of daily meditation practice they feel the clarity of their thinking, the calmness of their mood and their feeling's of 'centeredness' during the day have radically improved.

I'm on day 5 of morning mindfulness meditation and what I've learned is it's hard to start, but even after on a few days I've noticed more creative thinking and ideas coming to me.

This is a group that helps you get into the meditation groove if you're someone that learns more with the guidance of others.

Will report with more updates in a couple of months.
